Kingsbury Cottage is our satellite provision for the Finders pathway cohort of children at Kingsbury Primary School. The smaller setting hosts a range of provisions for teaching & learning, such as a greenhouse, outdoor classrooms, a small Forest School provision, regulation space, intervention room, hall and 2 spacious classrooms.
The cohort have access to weekly Rebound Therapy and Forest School sessions in addition to a broad & balanced curriculum which is devised from the EYFS Development Matters framework & pre-key stage milestones.
At Kingsbury Cottage, our aim is to ensure that the children have a positive start to their academic career by being settled and happy. We believe that a happy and settled child will be open to new and exciting learning opportunities. With this in mind, we play alongside the children and encourage them to interact with the world around them in a stage-appropriate way. Staff model positive engagement, regulation strategies and effective communication.
We have children aged between 4 and 7 years old in our Finders pathways at Kingsbury Cottage. When the children have completed their Finders pathway experience, they will then move into our School Lane campus on one of the following pathways for their ability stage.
In the summer term before the children are due to move to the Kingsbury School Lane campus, we will begin a planned transition process where children will regularly visit for events and activities. During these transitions, they will become familiar with the staff and layout of the larger school environment and provisions available. The EYFS/Finders cohort at Kingsbury Cottage are included in the whole school events and celebrations throughout the academic year, ensuring a greater sense of belonging.
